Alpharetta’s approach to thoughtful, livable spaces

We believe that great design should reflect the people who live there. Based in Alpharetta, Dragon Interior Design creates custom residential and commercial interiors that balance comfort with intention.

Our Story

Dragon Interior Design was founded by Barry Zimmerman with a simple belief: that a well-designed space can quietly transform the way you feel. Based right here in Alpharetta, the studio started as a solo practice built on personal referrals and has grown into a small, dedicated team that serves clients throughout the area. We never set out to be the biggest firm—just the one that listens the closest.

While our portfolio has expanded over the years, our approach remains the same. We don’t follow trends for the sake of novelty. Instead, we focus on texture, proportion, and the unique rhythm of each home. Every project is a collaboration, and we treat your space with the same care we would our own.

Who We Help

The Growing Family

You’ve outgrown your current layout, but you’re not ready to move. We help you reconfigure existing square footage to improve flow, increase storage, and create kid-friendly zones that don’t sacrifice style. From durable fabrics to smart furniture placement, we design for real life.

The Empty Nester

Your home is full of memories, but it no longer fits your daily routine. We assist in refreshing your space to match your current lifestyle—whether that means converting a rarely used bedroom into a home office, or softening the palette to create a more serene retreat.

The Business Owner

Your commercial space should communicate your values. We work with local boutique owners, medical professionals, and entrepreneurs to create interiors that feel professional yet welcoming. From client-facing areas to employee breakrooms, we focus on functionality and atmosphere.

What We Do

We take the stress out of the design process. Whether you are furnishing a single room or planning a full-home renovation, we handle the logistics so you don’t have to. Our work includes space planning, material selection, custom furniture sourcing, and construction documentation. We collaborate with local tradespeople and vendors to bring the vision to life without unnecessary delays.

Because we are based in Alpharetta, we are able to maintain close relationships with our clients throughout the project. We don’t disappear after delivering a mood board. We stay involved from the first sketch to the final placement of accessories.

Our Mission

We exist to prove that professional design is not exclusive or intimidating. Our mission is to demystify the process and give our clients the confidence to make decisions about their surroundings. We don’t dictate—we guide.

At Dragon Interior Design, we measure success not by the number of projects we complete, but by the longevity of our relationships. We want our clients to call us when their needs change, years down the road. That trust is the foundation of our work.

Our Advantages

Personalized Approach

We don’t use templates. Every color palette, furniture layout, and material specification is developed specifically for your home and your habits.

Local Presence

Being based in Alpharetta means we know the local supply chains, building codes, and regional architectural styles. We can visit your site without travel delays.

Clear Communication

We avoid design jargon. You will always understand the “why” behind our recommendations, and we welcome your input at every stage.

Vendor Relationships

Over the years, we have built respectful partnerships with local artisans and suppliers. This allows us to source quality pieces that aren’t available to the general public.

Our Achievements

Over the past decade, Dragon Interior Design has had the privilege of shaping interiors across Alpharetta and the surrounding areas. While we don’t track metrics or publicize client names, we take pride in the fact that the majority of our new business comes from repeat clients and word-of-mouth recommendations. We consider that the highest form of recognition.

We have successfully completed projects ranging from historic home renovations to new construction builds. Each one has taught us something new about materials, light, or human behavior. We carry those lessons forward into every subsequent project.
